Draw/Burnley

Reason for tip

Burnley have won 12 of their last 13 home games, but led at the break in only three. Fleetwood, meanwhile, have conceded only two first-half goals in their last seven away games and have kept four clean sheets in a row ahead of this cup clash.

Burnley 2-0

Reason for tip

Burnley have scored plenty of goals against fellow Championship sides this season, but have managed only six across four games against teams from lower divisions in the two cups. Fleetwood’s defensive organisation could restrict them to just two on Wednesday, although they will dominate possession and now allow the Cod Ar,y two many chances to score themselves.

Anass Zaroury To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Anass Zaroury, who assisted Burnley’s opener on Saturday, is the club’s second top scorer with 10, and looks a good shout for an anytime goalscorer bet. He scored two goals in the Clarets’ FA Cup third-round win at Bournemouth.

Burnley vs Fleetwood Town Predictions

  • Burnley have won 12 of their last 13 home games, but led at HT in only three
  • Fleetwood have conceded only two first-half goals in their last seven away games.
  • Fleetwood have kept four clean sheets in a row ahead of this cup clash

Cod Army are rarely battered away from home

Burnley may be made to wait for their goals by a stubborn Fleetwood side when the Clarets look to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Vincent Kompany’s side have been the best team in the Football League for some time and are short-priced favourites to progress against mid-table League One opposition. But the Cod Army are rarely battered away from home – losing only four of their 19 away trips all season and never by more than one goal.

Celtic legend Scott Brown is unbeaten in six games as Fleetwood boss and his team have kept four clean sheets in a row, which suggests they will not be blown away by Burnley. Vincent Kompany’s side almost always get it done at home – where they have won 13 of their last 14 games – but don’t always get their noses in front before the break.

Zaroury could unlock Fleetwood’s stubborn defence

The Clarets have led at the interval in only three of their last 13 games at Turf Moor, which opens up the possibility that Fleetwood could still be on level terms after 45 minutes.

The Clarets’ Jay Rodriguez and Manuel Benson are not yet ready to return from injury, which means another start for in-form Ashley Barnes up front. Ian Maatsen will also miss out after the on-loan Chelsea defender had to be stretchered off in the second half of Burnley’s 4-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday with a suspected dislocated shoulder.

That weekend victory saw a return to form for Moroccan international winger Anass Zaroury, who assisted their opener. He is the club’s second top scorer with 10, behind Southampton loan star Nathan Tella – who has netted 14 in total, and looks a good shout for an anytime goalscorer bet.
