Cambuur Leeuwarden vs Feyenoord Betting Tips

Cambuur Leeuwarden opened up their Eredivisie campaign on the road against PEC Zwolle and offered a more than respectable account of themselves. After falling 2-0 behind in the first half, Cambuur battled back with goals from Bakker and Overgoor and it was the visitors that had the better of the chances to win it in the last 10 minutes.

Last season, this side finished a respectable 12th. They have not traditionally been the most disciplined defensive side with a lot of the squad’s talent once again geared towards moving forward with the likes of Overgoor, van der Streek, Houtkoop and Ogbeche, not to mention the presence of some decent footballers on the bench.

However, it’s very difficult to back Cambuur as an upset team. Since returning to the top flight two seasons ago, they’ve lost all four of their Eredivisie encounters to Feyenoord. In fact, they have lost nine and drawn just one of their last 10 games against their Sunday afternoon opponents. A pair of one-goal losses last season were reflective of an improving performance, but it’s still hard to back Cambuur to secure a first point against Feyenoord since 1993.

Feyenoord’s season got off to an entertaining start. A late penalty for FC Utrecht made the score-line 3-2, but the reality is that the home side controlled the play De Kuip Stadion. Feyenoord fans want to see their side seriously challenge in Eredivisie this year after a disappointing fourth place finish in 2014-15.

Goals from Colin Kazim-Richards, Tonny Vihena and Dirk Kuyt showed that Feyenoord definitely possesses the talent going forward to make a little noise. Goals were a little too hard to come by last season (relative to the other title contenders).

Historically and based on their opening exchanges, we can’t back anything other than a Feyenoord win in this match-up. Cambuur’s squad looks solid enough to avoid the relegation battle, but we still think they’ll lose their games against the Eredivisie’s top sides.
