      Carlisle vs Everton Predictions

It took a penalty shootout for Carlisle United to progress from the FA Cup 3rd Round, with a 2-2 draw against Yeovil being followed by a 1-1 draw away from home.

These two games contribute to their record of no wins from their last five matches in all competitions, although to be fair they have only lost once during this period.

Before this winless run they were actually in very good form having won four of their previous five matches, but I think the flooding of their home stadium might have affected them a bit.

They are looking comfortable in League Two though, with them sitting in a mid-table 11th position in the table with 39 points from their 25 games so far. They also have games in hand on all the teams around them due to the flooding situation.

This mid-table position means they will be fully focused on trying to put an extensive FA Cup run together.

Everton were knocked out of the Capital One Cup in midweek as they fell to a controversial 3-1 defeat at the Etihad to nullify their first leg win at Goodison Park.

This made it back to back defeats for Everton, who have now not won any of their last four matches in all competitions. Their last win was when they knocked out Dagenham and Redbridge in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

This sums up their season really. Everton have really struggled to win games despite their scintillating attacking force of Ross Barkley, Gerard Deulofeu, and Romelu Lukaku. This has put some pressure on Roberto Martinez, as their 12th place standing in the Premier League isn’t good enough for the Goodison Park faithful.

A good FA Cup run would go some way to making amends for their league failings though, so they will probably be putting out a strong team.

Everton’s defence has been very shoddy this season. They have only kept three clean sheets in their last 12 matches. I think Carlisle can bag a goal against their Premier League opposition, but they won’t be able to keep out Lukaku and company. Odds of 4/6 for Both Teams to Score look good value to me, and I’m going for a 3-1 win for Everton at 10/1.
