Cheltenham vs Grimsby Predictions
Expectations at the start of a league campaign are a funny thing as some sides may widely overestimate the quality of their squad and expect a title charge, whilst others will perhaps do themselves a disservice as they expect a season of struggling to avoid the drop is what awaits for them in the upcoming season. For Cheltenham Town and Grimsby Town, they probably fell into the latter category, but their recent form suggests that they may just be able to do a little better than they might have expected at the start of the campaign.
Cheltenham Town have won five of their last seven games in all competitions but remain just one point above the League Two relegation zone. The Robins know that if they are able to avoid the drop the season then they will have accomplished their main goal, but their recent form suggests that they are more than capable of competing at this level so they probably should set their sights a little higher. If the hosts are to emerge victorious then they are going to have to maintain a goalscoring record which has seen them find the back of the net eight times in their previous four league matches.
Grimsby Town took seven points from their last three League 2 matches and look in good shape to get a result away at Cheltenham Town. Like their hosts, the Mariners have enjoyed a recent return to form in front of goal and this new found ability to find the back of the net goes a long way to explaining why they have put together a good string of results. The visitors have managed to score nine in their last four matches and will be fully expecting to improve that tally this weekend.
With both sides coming into this match with a new found level of confidence following their recent improvements, it is hard to pick out who will emerge victorious. With this in mind, we think that the goals market is a far safer bet than the win-draw-win market and we think that backing both teams to score makes perfect sense.
