Chievo vs Inter Milan Predictions
Inter Milan managed to return to form last weekend, as they edged out Udinese on Saturday. That victory came days after a 1-1 draw with PSV, which sent them crashing out of the Champions League. That’s left them licking their wounds, but there’s still a chance to push for a solid finish in the league. With a major showdown against Napoli coming on Boxing Day, can Inter warm up with three points at Chievo?
The hosts remain bottom of the table, with just four points to their name. They are yet to win this season, which is put the Gialloblu on a crash course to Serie B. There’s little about this side which suggests that they’re going to be able to fight off relegation, but they are slowly closing the gap on the sides around them. Despite that small improvement, facing off with a side like Inter is a much tougher task.
The visitors have seen their week dominated by stories about Mauro Icardi, who has been linked with a big contract, or a potential move. A link with Juventus was revealed by Icardi’s wife this week, but the captain seems set to stay despite the Champions League exit. The visitors were in terrible form, winning once in seven before their victory over Udinese. Will they build on that success by putting on a show away to Chievo this week?
The visitors have picked up some big wins with weakened sides this term, so we expect them to impress against Chievo. They face the league’s weakest side, so this is a chance for Inter to let the shackles off and rack up the goals. They haven’t exactly been dull on the road this season – 62% of their trips have seen over 2.5 goals. Despite that, Inter need to show a little more following the manner of their European exit.
The hosts have conceded two goals per game at home this season, while they’ve already been on the wrong end of some big defeats. However, Chievo have scored in all of their meetings at home to top six sides this term, so they should cause problems for an Inter defence which has conceded eight times in their last four trips. We see the Nerazzurri claiming a win, but we’re backing the visitors to edge this one with over 2.5 goals in the match. On top of that, we’re backing a 2-1 win for Inter.
