Big chance for Chorley to advance

Victory Park is the destination for Derby this weekend as they travel to Chorley in the FA Cup. With Derby’s training ground shut and the vast majority of their first team squad missing for this game due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Championship side will be mainly made up of youth players.

Chorley come into this game in decent, if unspectacular, form after winning four of their last six games leaving them in 10th position in the National League North, five leagues below their opponents this weekend. Goals have been a rarity in Chorley games this season with the side scoring just 15 and conceding 18 in 14 matches so far.

Derby have struggled this season and find themselves in a relegation battle, winning just four of their 22 games this season. They still don’t have a permanent manager in place and that situation is even worse this weekend with interim boss, Wayne Rooney, missing the trip as he also has to self isolate.

With the news emerging that Derby won’t have their first team available for this game, Chorley head into this match as slight favourites. We think that might be a tad hasty with the players still available for Derby possessing some level of talent and we’d avoid looking for a full time result in this game. Instead we see plenty of value in backing the under 2.5 goals market with both sides potentially lacking that cutting edge.

Looking for a correct score in this one is one of the hardest decisions this weekend but we doubt there will be much between the two sides overall and we’re forecasting a 1-1 scoreline in this one.
