Tip Reasoning

  • Swindon have won six of their last nine away league games.
  • Colchester have lost five of their last six games in League Two, conceding more than once in each defeat.
  • Colchester have conceded eight goals in their last five home league games.
  • Only two clubs have a worse home record in League Two than Colchester.

Robins have reliable record on the road

Colchester produced a big surprise to win away at Salford City last weekend, but it may be too much to ask for them to follow it up against Swindon Town this Saturday.

The managerless U’s won for the first time in eight league matches and it was achieved without three regular first-team players travelling. They also lost experienced midfielder Cole Skuse to an eye injury in the first half, but dominated that period to take a 2-0 lead at the break.

Salford can be a bit hit and miss, but Swindon are much more consistent side – particularly on the road where they have been the best away side in the division until some dropped points recently. The Wiltshire club have won six of their last nine away from the County Ground and will travel to Essex on the back of a 1-1 home draw with Bristol Rovers – described in some reports as a high-intensity affair.

U’s have been uninspiring at home

Ben Garner’s side have scored at least two goals in seven of their last nine away trips and we should see them bag multiple times on Saturday against a Colchester defence that has shipped eight times in their last five at home.

Only two teams in the division have a worse home record than the U’s, who have won only three of eleven games and scored a pitiful ten times at JobServe Community Stadium. If they fail to score they are usually toast, so given that record, the only bet in town for us is to back the away side to take all three points

A 2-1 scoreline is recommended in correct score betting because Swindon have stopped keeping clean sheets of late – recording only one in their last 13 games in all competitions, over which time they have averaged just under 1.7 goals per game.
