Colo Colo vs Independiente Del Valle Predictions

Colo Colo must win this game in order to leapfrog Independiente and secure 2nd place in the group, they will be hoping that their home advantage gives them the edge, as the previous fixture and first game of the group stages was a close affair, ending 1-1.  Their next match saw them dominate group whipping boys Melgar, however they struggled to score, finally breaking their defence with a 65th minute goal through Esteban Paredes. Colo Colo followed this up with a home game against group leaders Atlético Mineiro where they managed to secure a hard fought 0-0 draw, they will perhaps be disappointed to not win the game however, considering they registered 13 shots, the return leg of this match was humbling 3-0 defeat to Atlético despite having more possession of the ball. Finally they faced Melgar again, coming back from a goal down to win 1-2 with Esteban Paredes scoring both goals for the away side.

Independiente del Valle sit in 2nd place, separated from the top only by 1 goal but equally, only 2 points ahead of Colo Colo in 3rd. They must at least draw this game to qualify for the next round but a loss would mean heartbreak for them. Their tournament began with a 1-1 home draw against Colo Colo, left frustrated after failing to make their shots against the opposition goalkeeper count. They then faced Atlético Mineiro away, conceding early in the 4th minute of the game and struggling to get back into it, they managed a much more positive result against Melgar however, scoring in the 36th minute through 22 year old Junior Sornoza in a game which ended 0-1 to Independiente. They managed a win in the return leg too, Junior Sornoza opening the scoring again, in the 3rd minute this time, before Jose Enrique Angulo finished the tie off the tie 2-0 to the home side. Finally they faced a touch fixture against Atlético though they made their home advantage count, winning the game 3-2 after Bryan Cabrezas Segura scored the opener before Junior Sornoza bagged a brace to cancel out Atlético’s equaliser. Despite a second half goal from Lucas Pratto, Independiente were able to hold on to the 3 points, increasing the pressure on their rivals at the top of the table.

Both sides are vying for 2nd place in their group, and with games running out to secure it, both teams will be taking risks, expect to see goals in this one, as both teams attack from the off.
