      East Kilbride vs Celtic Predictions

East Kilbride couldn’t have hoped to get this far in the Scottish FA Cup, but fortunately for them the draws were kind to them. They haven’t had to face any sides from the professional divisions in their five Scottish FA Cup matches so far, but this match against Celtic almost seems like a formality.

Overall, East Kilbride aren’t even in particularly good form. They have won two, lost two, and drawn one of their last five matches in all competitions, with these results spanning almost two months as a host of postponements hit the lower divisions in Scotland.

This form leaves them in 5th position in the Lowland Football League, although all the postponements have wreaked havoc on the league table. By the time everything is caught up they could be anywhere between 2nd and 9th position.

There is no arguments with where Celtic are placed. They sit atop the entire Scottish Football League in 1st position of the Premiership, a position they have occupied so often since their formation.

But Celtic have lost back to back matches for the first time since August 2014. They first lost to Ross County in the Scottish League Cup semi final before allowing Aberdeen to close the gap at the top of the table.

These defeats ended their run of five wins in a row in all competitions, and they now only have a three point advantage over Aberdeen at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

I think it’s obvious that Celtic will field a largely weakened side when they visit East Kilbride on Sunday, but I don’t expect this to give East Kilbride a chance of winning either.

The condition of the hosts’ pitch could be an issue for the Celtic players though. This may not affect the overall result, but it could thwart Celtic’s attacking play a marginal amount. This, plus the complacency the visitors could suffer from, makes me think that odds of 11/10 for Under 4.5 Goals are very good value. I’m going for that along with a 3-0 Celtic win at 13/2.
