FC Copenhagen vs Malmo FF Predictions
- A draw is enough for Copenhagen to progress from Group B but a loss could see them crash out if results go against them.
- A win would guarantee Malmo a passage into the knockout stages but they would need to rely on the result in Kyiv going their way if they fail to pick up the three points.
- Only two games in this group have beaten the 2.5 goal line and none of Copenhagen’s matches have featured more than two goals.
- Prior to their 4-3 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the last matchweek, Malmo had only scored three goals in four Europa League games this season.
Can Copenhagen find the draw they need to progress?
Copenhagen are unbeaten in Group B but have only once twice with the side being draw specialists so far with three separate 1-1 results. Outside of those results they have won 1-0 twice, scoring just five goals in fiv games in the competition.
They enter this match knowing that another draw would see them progress to the round of 32 and they are likely to try and play for this, with excessive attacking not being in their nature.
Malmo need a win but is it a bridge too far?
Malmo took a big step towards qualification in the last match week, beating Dynamo Kyiv 4-3, putting themselves two points ahead of their rivals heading into the last set of games in Group B. There were some doubts over the sides ability to find the net but those were put to bed following their four goal haul.
Prior to that they had only scored three goals in four games and with so much riding on this game, we’re expecting the Swedes to revert back to their cautious style that has seen them lose just once in this Europa League campaign.
Who comes out on top?
We’re anticipating a tight game with neither side really able to assert much dominance as they look to keep things tight. Malmo should be the slightly more expansive side as they look for a narrow win that would see them move into the next round but we’re not predicting many goals and we are backing the 2.5 goal line to be untouched.
With both sides not looking to take many risks we think a draw is likely and a 1-1 result looks the most likely. This result would suit Copenhagen but will leave Malmo with an anxious wait to see if Lugano are able to take anything from Dynamo Kyiv in the race for qualification from Group B.
