FC Eindhoven vs FC Dordrecht Predictions

Following a decent 0-0 stalemate at home to 2nd placed Sparta Rotterdam a fortnight ago, FC Eindhoven finally regained the winning thread last week as a double from Samy Bourard spearheaded a cosy 1-3 victory away to basement boys Jong Utrecht. The result has brought Blauw-witten back to within three points of the Play-off places, and they will be hoping to make further headway this Friday when they entertain 17th placed Dordrecht at Jan Louwers Stadion.

A run of five games without a win had seriously dented FC Eindhoven’s Play-off chances, but following that crucial triumph in Utrecht they now have a decent opportunity to get back into contention with fixtures against Dordrecht and Telstar this week and next.

Blauw-witten readily dispatched Schappenkoppen 0-3 in November’s reverse encounter at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion, but Dordrecht should provide much sterner resistance this time around as they have improved markedly since Claudio Braga stepped into the managerial hot seat at the beginning of 2019.

After landing just two victories in their first 20 league matches this term, Dordrecht have now won four of their last nine including a superb 3-2 success at home to 7th placed Roda JC last week thanks to goals from Thomas Schalekamp, Renny Smith and club top scorer this season Jeremy Cijntje.

That’s strong form for a team sitting four spots off the foot of the table, and although they were beaten somewhat disappointingly by 16th placed Telstar (1-0) when last on the road a fortnight ago, Dordrecht had previously won three away games on the spin.

So it looks for all money as though Schappenkoppen are now in false position with Braga at the helm, although it’s unlikely they will progress much further up the standings this season as they are still nine points behind Telstar and 12 adrift of 15th placed Volendam.

All told, this could be a much more even affair than the odds suggest, and 14th placed FC Eindhoven look opposable at odds-on.

The hosts have ultimately gained just one victory in their last six which came against the whipping boys of the second tier whilst they have won just three of their 14 outings at Jan Louwers Stadion this season.

The visitors have won three of their last six and have avoided defeat in six of their last nine away games, so we’re tipping up Dordrecht in the double chance market here along with a 1-1 draw.
