FC Oss vs Roda JC Predictions

If four wins on the bounce wasn’t enough to demonstrate their promotion credentials, Oss certainly proved last week that they’re a force to be reckoned with as they turned over leaders Go Ahead Eagles 0-1 in Deventer. The result lifted Oss up to 4th in the standings, and Klaas Wels’ side now sit just two points off the top heading into this Friday’s fixture against 7th placed Roda JC at Frans Heesen Stadion.

Huseyin Dogan has been the main man all season for Oss, and the 24 year-old delivered the goods again for Klaas Wels’ side against leaders Go Ahead Eagles on match day 15. An entertaining encounter full of chances at De Adelaarshorst looked to be fizzling out to a goalless stalemate, but Dogan had other ideas as he lashed home a loose ball from 12 yards to seal three priceless points five minutes from time.

It undoubtedly goes down as Oss’ best result of the campaign, and they’re now up to 4th and just two points behind co-leaders Go Ahead, Sparta Rotterdam and Den Bosch following five straight victories.

Oss fell away into 15th last term after a strong start, but that simply won’t be happening this time around if recent performances are anything to go by. Wels’ charges are a team to be feared right now, and Robert Molenaar’s Roda JC have the unenviable task of trying to prevent them from landing a sixth success on the spin when they make the trip to Frans Heesen Stadion this Friday.

Roda will at least go into round 16 feeling positive after a Mario Engels brace inspired them to a cosy 3-0 win at home to Telstar last week, and the Kerkrade outfit are in decent shape on the face of things after three victories from their last four Eerste Divisie outings.

But as stated in our preview last week, Molenaar’s men have a poor record against teams placed in the top half with two wins and four defeats from six fixtures thus far, and they’re quickly establishing a reputation for being the flat track bullies of the Dutch second tier.

They’ve lost three of their seven away matches this season, with the most recent defeat coming at MVV a fortnight ago (2-0), and it’s hard to envisage them doing any better here against a higher calibre of opposition.

Oss have lost two of their seven home fixtures which offers Roda some encouragement, but one of those reversals was against Den Bosch (0-1) in mid-October and they’ve since secured comfortable 2-0 wins against FC Eindhoven and Almere City at Frans Heesen Stadion.

We think a similar fate awaits Roda in this one and we’re siding with the hosts to land the spoils via a 2-0 score line.
