Terrific Twente to give a strong showing

No side in the Eredivisie has picked up more points across the last five rounds than Twente’s 13 (W4, D1), with that draw coming in a goalless stalemate with Feyenoord at the end of November.

It may seem counterintuitive to predict both teams to score after these sides played out a 0-0 so recently, but Twente have since conceded against two lesser sides in Waalwijk and G.A. Eagles and they now face one of the highest scoring sides in the division.

Moreover, there is arguably less at stake here in the cup, with European qualification being the ultimate goal for Twente in this campaign.

Fantastic Feyenoord to edge it

Only Ajax have picked up the KNVB Beker trophy more often than Feyenoord’s 20 titles and they will be aiming to make that 14 this season. However, their defence may well struggle against a solid Twente side here.

The visitors have scored nine goals across their last six away games and as such, they will hope to continue in that fine scoring vein while also protecting their seven-game unbeaten streak at this venue.

All things considered, I predict that both teams will score as Feyenoord edge out a 2-1 victory, largely due to their superior stature and pedigree in the competition. Finally, I am not backing a winner in the main prediction as the sides are impossible to split on recent form alone.
