Fenerbahce vs Feyenoord Predictions

Since losing the Dutch Super Cup against PSV at the end of July, everything has gone right for Feyenoord. They’ve rolled off 9 straight wins in all competitions to assume top spot in both the Eredivisie and their Europa League group. They’ve dispatched the weaker sides with absolute ease, scoring plenty of goals but have shown their resilient side too by beating PSV in the league and Manchester United in their opening Europa League game by 1-0 margins. They have been almost unrecognisable from the side that started 2016 with 6 defeats from their opening 7 games.

This will be another real test though. Fenerbahce are very strong at home in Europe and are rarely defeated. They haven’t made the most convincing of starts to their season with 7 points from their 5 league games so far. However, 6 of those points have come from their last two matches, a 5-1 win at Kasımpaşa and 2-1 win over Gaziantepspor. They got a decent draw at Zorya in their opening Europa League group game but with a double-header against Man United coming up, they’ll really feel as though 3 points are needed here.

That won’t be easy though the way Feyenoord are playing. The main problem for Fenerbahce this season has been at the back. They’ve only kept two clean sheets in 10 matches and both came against a fairly poor Grasshopper side in the play-off round of this competition. Both teams have scored in 4 of their last 5 matches and with the Dutch side in good form, you’d have to say a Feyenoord goal looks likely here. However, Turkish sides at home in Europe are always a force and Fenerbahce have looked good in front of goal in their last few games.

Therefore backing both teams to score at 4/5 looks to offer value here.
