Fiorentina to Win

Reason for tip

Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last five home games, winning four, while they have only been beaten by Roma and Milan in their last 10 matches in all competitions. Torino, on the other hand, are winless in four league matches.

Fiorentina 1-0

Reason for tip

Torino have seen under 2.5 goals scored in each of their last six matches, failing to beat three of Serie A’s bottom six in their last three outings. Meanwhile, only six Serie A teams have bettered Fiorentina’s return of 15 points on home soil this campaign.

Fiorentina vs Torino Predictions

  • Fiorentina have won four of their last five home games in all competitions, drawing the other.
  • Torino are winless in their last four Serie A games.
  • Only Roma and Milan have beaten Fiorentina in their last 10 games in all competitions.

Viola look to leapfrog Il Toro

Fiorentina and Torino are separated by mere goal difference in 10th and ninth position in Serie A, respectively, and while a European challenge looks to be beyond both sides, they will be keen to push for a finish as ‘best of the rest’ after inconsistent campaigns. The Viola have won each of their last three meetings with Torino at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and they will fancy their chances again here.

Fiorentina went down 2-0 against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last time out, struggling to fashion clear chances against a decent Giallorossi outfit. That, however, was just Fiorentina’s second defeat in their last 10 games – the other coming at Milan. On home soil, Vincenzo Italiano’s men have won four of their last five matches, drawing the other, and only six teams – each of them in the top seven – have won more Serie A points at home than their 15 this term.

Ivan Juric’s Torino, meanwhile, have endured a difficult few weeks since returning from the World Cup break. Their surprise extra-time Coppa Italia win at Milan is their only success since beating Sampdoria in early November, with Il Toro now winless in four Serie A games. The fact that the last three of those have come against bottom-six sides is a concern for Juric, who has been vocal in calling for January additions, which the club appear unlikely to sanction.

Home comforts reign supreme for Fiorentina

With Torino out of shape and Fiorentina excelling on home soil, backing Italiano’s men to claim what would be their fifth win in seven league games appears prudent.

Meanwhile, under 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last six games played by Torino, making a low-scoring affair likely. The hosts may edge this one by a single goal.
