      FK Viktoria Plzen to Win

      Reason for tip

Viktoria Plzen will fancy their chances of beating a Servette side that have a poor record in Champions League qualifying, especially as the Czech hosts ended last season with four wins from five on home soil, while they opened their new domestic campaign with Friday’s 5-1 thrashing of Pardubice.

      FK Viktoria Plzen 2-0

      Reason for tip

Two of Viktoria Plzen’s last four home wins have been by a 2-0 scoreline and they can repeat that outcome against a Servette side that have never won a competitive fixture away to Czech opposition, losing four of the previous six such meetings.

FK Viktoria Plzen vs Servette Predictions

      • Viktoria Plzen progressed when these two sides met in the Conference League two seasons ago
      • The Czech outfit opened their domestic campaign with a 5-1 win at Pardubice
      • Servette have failed to win any of their previous six away games against Czech opposition

Plzen have history on their side

Viktoria Plzen will welcome Servette to the Doosan Arena for the first leg of their Champions League second-qualifying round tie and the Czech outfit are fancied to make home advantage count after opening their domestic campaign with an emphatic 5-1 win at Pardubice on Friday night.

Servette, meanwhile, will be getting their campaign underway on Tuesday and the omens are not good for the Swiss team, who have failed to win any of their eight previous matches in regulation time in Champions League qualifying.

The Maroons also lost out when these two sides faced off in the last 16 of the 2023-24 Conference League, with Plzen progressing from that tie on penalties after both legs had finished 0-0.

Czechs to take lead into second leg

While there was very little to separate these two sides when they met two seasons ago, Plzen will head into this game looking to protect a strong home record, as they ended last season by winning four of their final five matches at the Doosan Arena.

That sequence included a pair of 2-0 victories over Sparta Prague and Slovacko and a repeat of that scoreline is possible against Servette, given the visitors ended 2024-25 with two defeats and just one win from their final four road fixtures.

Servette have also failed to win any of their previous six away fixtures against Czech opposition, losing four of those, and all the signs are that Plzen will secure a first-leg lead to take into next week’s return fixture in Switzerland.
