Flamengo are having a pretty good season despite their continued policy of playing home games all over the country. On Monday night they are in Cariacica, Espírito Santo looking to cement themselves in the top six of Serie A. They’ve only lost 2 of their last 8 games and come into this match following an impressive 2-0 win over Atletico Mineiro followed by an entertaining 3-3 draw at Botafogo last time out. They will most likely reflect on that game as 2 points dropped though having led 3-1 going into the final 10 minutes but they’ll be confident of getting back to winning ways here.

America Mineiro’s first top flight season in 5 years has been nothing short of a nightmare. We’re not even at the halfway point in the season but they are already 7 points adrift at the bottom of the table and 9 points off safety. What’s more concerning is that they are not showing any signs of improvement and in fact their performances and results seem to be getting worse with each passing week. Their last two league games have resulted in 3-0 defeats against Sao Paulo and last time out at home to fellow strugglers Santa Cruz.

Former Santos coach Enderson Moreira takes over here but he inherits a squad lacking in confidence and short on quality so it’s hard to see him changing much.

Flamengo are playing some pretty good football and don’t have any players in Brazil’s Olympic squad unlike almost all the other sides at the top end. They should have no problem winning this match against an America side that has lost all of their last six league games to nil.

Therefore surely there is value in backing Flamengo to Win to Nil at 21/20.
