Genoa vs Sampdoria Predictions
Italian Serie A action returns on Tuesday night with a pair of teams in Genoa and Sampdoria that badly need to start 2016 off with three points. Neither team has performed as well in 2015/16 after solid campaigns the previous year. As the league season gets closer to the halfway point, there’s still time for both clubs to turn their seasons around.
Genoa’s last win, in fact their last points in Serie A, came on November 22 when they won 2-1 at home against Sassuolo. It has been a dire run for a team that has scored just 15 times in 17 games, they’re fourth from bottom and could easily find themselves in a battle for their top flight survival as the season drags on.
It isn’t much better for Sampdoria, who finished seventh last season qualifying for the Europa League. Their brief escapade in European football may not have lasted long, but it was reflective of a terrific campaign. It appears that the exodus of quality players last summer cost this club too much.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Genoa poor form
For whatever reason, things were not clicking for Genoa home or away. Their inability to score goals is a big concern, they’re not exactly a pure shutdown team either unfortunately.
2. Sampdoria showed some promise
In their last two Serie A games, there has been at least some semblance of form for Sampdoria. They earned a 1-1 draw away against Lazio was followed by a 2-0 home victory against Palermo.
3. Nice double chance odds
With Genoa’s lack of goals and Sampdoria’s improved form, we don’t fancy Genoa to break the game open with goals and we give the visitors a good opportunity to steal something out of the game. The Double Chance odds come in at a respectable 4/6.
