Gillingham vs Bolton Predictions
- Gillingham have lost one of their last five matches
- Bolton have lost their last two away games
- The reverse fixture finished 2-2 in October
Harris has bred new life into the Gills
Gillingham looked down and out under Steve Evans, but the arrival of Neil Harris has bred new life into the Kent club. Harris has been in charge for seven games, Gillingham have lost just two of these fixtures despite seeming doomed before he took charge. It’s a run of form which has seen The Gills give themselves more than a live chance of avoiding the drop. Gillingham are now just three points from safety. Gillingham can take encouragement from the 2-2 in the reverse fixture in October, it came at a time when Gillingham were on a wretched run of form.
Bolton’s away form set to cost them a shot at the top six
Bolton have taken twice as many points at home this season then on their travels. 17 of Bolton’s 51 points this season have been recorded from their 18 away games. Ian Evatt’s men have lost their last two away games conceding five goals in the process. This run can be extended to two wins in their last twelve away league games, their struggles on the road have been evident this season and they look set for a tricky afternoon at Priestfield on Saturday.
I put up Gillingham when they were thumped 7-2 at home by Oxford and swiftly deserted them following that performance. It looks like I may have jumped ship prematurely, as The Gills have been rejuvenated since the arrival of Neil Harris. I fancy a confident Gillingham side to cause Bolton problems and they will be the selection in this one. In the correct score market, I suggest chancing a 2-1 home win.
