Granada vs Las Palmas Predictions

This is one of those matches where both sides will certainly be targeting maximum points. Granada will look at Las Palmas’ away record and think this is one of their best opportunities to record a much-needed victory while, against La Liga’s bottom club, the visitors will certainly think they can cure their away day blues here. As a result, an open contest is likely and there are usually plenty of goals whenever these sides meet.

Las Palmas did arguably the best business of all Spanish sides in January. They signed PSG’s Jese on loan until the end of the season. This is his hometown club so some emotional attachment may have helped seal the deal but it’s still a massive coup. The former Real Madrid man is being tipped to make his debut as the central striker here and backing Jese Rodriguez to score anytime at 7/4 could therefore be a decent punt.

The addition of Alen Halilovic, also on loan, will also bolster an already impressive attacking line-up. Las Palmas have scored 1.55 goals per game on average this term and have only failed to score in 20% of their games. However, defensively they are poor on their travels, which strongly suggests we’ll see goals at both ends here. Las Palmas have let in 2.33 goals per away game in La Liga this term. 67% of their away games have produced over 2.5 goals in total and both teams have scored in 67% of them.

Up against the league’s worst defence, you’d certainly back both those things to continue. Granada have conceded in 95% of their matches this season and have let in 2.2 goals per game on average. Given they are 8 points off safety, they really need to win matches though so shutting up shop and trying to grind out draws isn’t going to get them anywhere. As a result they are likely to be fairly positive here and try to expose the visitors’ defensive problems.

Both teams have scored in 65% of Granada’s home games so they have tended to cause the opposition one or two problems of their own and all the stats here seem to point towards this being a game that produces several goals. Therefore, backing Over 2.5 & Both Teams to Score at 6/5 looks to offer great value, particularly given that has been the case in all of the last 4 meetings between the sides.
