Hamilton vs Albion Predictions

• Hamilton have beaten Falkirk and Edinburgh City but lost to Ayr Utd on Tuesday.
• Albion drew at home to Ayr Utd and Edinburgh but were thrashed 5-1 by Falkirk.
• Hamilton beat Albion’s fellow League Two side 5-0 at home in the FA Cup last year.

Stage set for Hamilton to progress 

Hamilton have to beat League Two Albion Rovers at New Douglas Park on Saturday to secure their spot in the next round of the League Cup.

Nine points should do it for Brian Rice’s side, who will still be kicking themselves that they couldn’t get there with a game to spare after losing 1-0 to Ayr United in midweek.

The Championship side were outplayed in the first half and couldn’t capitalise on the pressure they created after the break.

The Accies should get the victory they need at home to an Albion Rovers side that have taken a couple of drubbings on the road in recent times.

Hamilton, with only three goals to show from three games this term, may not be able to emulate Falkirk’s thumping 5-1 win over Albion last week or Dunfermline’s 6-0 humiliation of The Wee Rovers from 2019.

But we like their chances of winning by more than a goal against a side with nothing to play for and a pretty dismal away record (won 2, drawn 3, lost 8 since 2012).

And, having let the home faithful down at the weekend, a 2-0 Accies win should send the Hamilton fans home smiling and Rice’s men on to the next round.
