Paderborn to get points on the board in Heidenheim

Heidenheim finished four points clear of Paderborn in last season’s 2. Bundesliga campaign but the visitors should have the edge when the sides meet in their 2021/22 curtain raiser on Saturday.

Heidenheim have been relatively quiet in the transfer market and their end of season form last term is a real worry. They lost four of their last five games and their only points in that period came against a Sandhausen side that finished just three points above the relegation zone.

Paderborn, on the other hand, ended their season in decent form and have made some significant changes during the summer months. No fewer than 11 players have been brought in and manager Lukas Kwasniok has shown his tactical flexibility in pre-season with a number of different systems.

Their players probably aren’t good enough to challenge the big boys in the 2. Bundesliga, but this tactical nouse should give them the edge in these closely fought ties.

With Paderborn losing just one of their final seven games last season and avoiding defeat in four of their last five on the road, backing them in the double chance market looks appealing and with half of their final six games ending in stalemates I’m also opting for a 1-1 correct score prediction.
