Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Heidenheim have conceded twice or more across their opening three games, but they’ve scored at least twice in their last two. They meet a Werder Bremen side who have conceded in each of their last nine Bundesliga trips, while the visitors can expose Heidenheim’s issues at the back.

Heidenheim 2-1

Reason for tip

Werder Bremen have lost four straight away games and their last nine Bundesliga trips have seen them concede at least twice on seven occasions. Heidenheim scored twice in a draw with Dortmund last time out so back them to outscore their opponents in an open 2-1 win.

Heidenheim vs Werder Bremen Predictions

  • Heidenheim have conceded twice or more in each of their first three games this term
  • However, the hosts drew 2-2 at Dortmund in their last game
  • Werder Bremen have conceded twice in seven of their last nine Bundesliga trips

High hopes for Heidenheim

While Heidenheim are winless after their first three Bundesliga games of the campaign, they are hopeful of securing all three points when they meet a Werder Bremen side who have lost three of their first four games in all competitions.

The visitors were upset in a 3-2 loss to Viktoria Koln in the cup before a thumping against Bayern Munich and a defeat at Freiburg. They’ll target this trip to a newly promoted side for a turnaround, so expect the pair to both get forward in Sunday’s encounter.

Back against both defences

It’s hard to have much faith in either of these two sides defensively, with Heidenheim conceding twice across their opening three league games before losing 3-1 to Nurnberg in a friendly last week. However, they play against a Werder side who have shipped eight goals across four games.

The visitors have a poor away record behind them in the league, losing four straight trips and conceding at least twice in seven of their last nine Bundesliga away days.

The hosts were able to claw back a 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in their last game and they can take confidence from that, so I see them edging this clash for a first win of the campaign. However, considering how the pair are defending, both teams to score is the standout bet.
