Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fewer than three goals have been scored in Huddersfield’s last four pre-season matches and also in three of Leyton Orient’s last five first-team friendlies. Meanwhile, fewer than three goals were scored in nine of Huddersfield’s last 13 home games in 2024-25.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Orient’s strong finish to the campaign saw them score plenty, but they may struggle to repeat that without midfield fulcrum Galbraith and 21-goal Kelman. Huddersfield’s pre-season programme has hardly been full of goals either, so a 1-1 draw is taken because the sides look evenly matched right now.

Orient start promotion bid all over again

Leyton Orient will try to put their play-off final heartbreak behind them when they travel to Huddersfield for a clash of probable League One promotion contenders on Saturday. The Os leapt up the table from the relegation zone to Wembley with a superb second half of the 2024/25 campaign, winning 4-1 at Huddersfield on the final day of the regular season.

Richie Wellens’ side have since lost influential midfielder Ethan Galbraith to Swansea City and striker Charlie Kelman back to his parent club QPR, but former Terrier Josh Koroma is among a raft of replacement signings.

They have enjoyed a solid pre-season, capped of by a 1-1 draw against a strong Watford side and could be ready to spring a surprise at John Smith’s Stadium.

Goals could be short at Accu Stadium

Huddersfield look to be heading in the right direction too after bringing rookie boss Lee Grant in to bolster their promotion hopes. Town finished 10th last season, losing four more matches than the Os.

Goals were a problem for the West Yorkshire club, particularly at home where they registered only twice in eight games between Boxing Day and Easter. GRant is dealing with a few bumps and bruises, so may not have Town’s best XI at his disposal, but they look solid enough not to lose.

Taking Under 2.5 goals at attractive odds could be the best way in based on two sets of pre-season results that look anything but prolific.
