Middlesbrough to Win

Reason for tip

Middlesbrough have only lost three of their 18 games and are fancied to pick up back-to-back wins against Hull, who have lost three of their last five outings and have the worst defensive record in the top half.

Middlesbrough 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in five of Hull’s last seven league matches and the same looks likely in what could be a competitive affair. Middlesbrough have won four games by a scoreline of 2-1 this term and could repeat the trick.

Hull City vs Middlesbrough Predictions

  • Hull have lost three of their last five games.
  • Six of Middlesbrough’s last seven matches have seen both teams score.
  • Middlesbrough have won 2-1 four times this term.

Boro on the up

Middlesbrough picked up their first win under new manager Kim Hellberg at the weekend and they are fancied to follow up when they visit Hull on Friday.

Boro are second in the Championship, struggling to keep up Coventry’s relentless pace at the top of the table but making the best of their way home regardless.

Hellberg’s men showed their fight to come back from a goal down to beat Derby and they are taken to get the better of a Hull side who have had their struggles as of late.

Tigers leaky at the back

The hosts have lost three of their last five games, falling to defeats against Derby, QPR and Ipswich as they start to feel the heat in the play-off race.

The Tigers have the worst defensive record in the top half of the table but are the top scorers in the division behind Coventry so it is not hard to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie.

Only bottom side Sheffield Wednesday have leaked more goals than the home side’s 30 and that could be their undoing in this one.

Six of Middlesbrough’s last seven games have seen both teams score and a repeat of that is fancied, correct score backers may want to side with a 2-1 win for Boro.
