Tip Reasoning

  • Hull are buoyed by a new manager and new ownership of the club.
  • Hull haven’t conceded across the last 220 minutes of home play.
  • Preston won just one of their eight visits to Hull since 2006.

Turkish delight for Hull

Many people in the footballing world looked at Hull with raised eyebrows after their new owner came in and disposed of Grant McCann on the back of a win to nil against promotion-chasing Bournemouth. However, that seems to have paid off after at least the first game as they won for the third time in a row without reply.

Those three wins ahead of this clash have all but ended Hull’s flirtation with the relegation places, though they know that the work is not yet done as Shota Arveladze is tasked with taking the club to new heights under their new Turkish ownership.

Off-colour Lilywhites seek consistency

Any hopes Preston had of reaching the play-offs now seem remote as a run of one win across the last five rounds has left them seven points adrift at the time of writing, with some sides above them even having played fewer games than the Lilywhites.

Even so, Preston could yet mount a challenge if they were to go on a serious run of wins, though this is a tricky proposition against a side enjoying a good moment at present and one which they have only beaten once on their own turf across the last 15 years.

While Hull are slight favourites at the time of writing, a tag in which they have struggled with in this league season (W2, D2, L4 as favourites), I predict that they may have just turned the corner. As such, I am going for a slender 2-1 home win at a great value price.
