Huracán got off to a disappointing start to their Copa Libertadores group campaign with a 2-0 loss to Colombian outfit Atlético Nacional, but then went on to win against Uruguay side Peñarol 1-0.

In the following match Huracan headed to Lima, Peru for the reverse fixture of this clash against Sporting Cristal.
