Inter Milan vs Sampdoria Predictions
With just one win in their past six games, Inter Milan are struggling to remain a legitimate contender in Serie A. They’ve slipped from first to fifth since the start of 2016 and have consistently come up short against better teams in recent weeks. Last weekend served up a prime example, when they just didn’t have enough to stop Fiorentina in an entertaining 2-1 win. On a positive note, Inter have played better at home of late, their one win came at the San Siro in a 1-0 decision against Chievo.
For Sampdoria, the season’s stretch run is a question of top flight survival. They have a slim three-point advantage over third from bottom Frosinone heading into Saturday’s action. They haven’t won since beating Genoa 3-2 on January 5, a stretch of seven games.
Head-to-Head
Sampdoria’s overall history against Inter hasn’t been good. Heading into last season they had lost six of seven and gone win-less in 10 straight games. However, they’ve arguably had the better of the match-up in recent weeks, beating Inter 1-0 in a game last season and drawing 1-1 earlier this season.
Team News
Defender Jeison Murillo could be sidelined and would be a significant loss to an Inter side that leans on its back four, while key midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is also definitely out.
Sampdoria’s injury list is slowly coming down. They could do with getting a couple of key defenders back as well with both Mobido Diakite and Niklas Moisander reportedly nearing returns. Creative midfielders Jacopo Sala and Carlos Carbonero have been sidelined for several weeks.
Reason for Betting Tips
Inter haven’t been a lock down defensive team in recent weeks conceding 11 goals in their past five games. They come up against Sampdoria, who have one of the poorest defensive records in the league, but who have managed to regularly find the back of the net with 36 tallies in 25 games.
