Istanbul Basaksehir vs Besiktas Predictions
- Istanbul Basaksehir have won three of their last five games, picking up 10 points in that time.
- Besiktas have also won three of their last five but have only picked up 9 points.
- Basaksehir have averaged 1.90 goals per game this season, conceding just over 1 per game.
- Besiktas have scored 1.61. goals per game this season but conceded 1.28 goals on average.
Can Basaksehir keep momentum going in their title challenge?
Istanbul Basaksehir are currently in third position in the Turkish Super Lig but there are only six points separating the top seven, with everything still to play for this. This fixture looks especially important as a win for Basaksehir could put them top whilst also ensuring Besiktas lose ground in their own title challenge.
Basaksehir have won three of their last five matches but poor results against Sivasspor and Fenerbahce have meant they’ve lost a little ground on the two sides above them. They’ve scored at a good rate this season, just a shade under two goals a game and haven’t conceded too any in what is considered to be a very good season for the side.
Besiktas need a win; Can they deliver this weekend?
Besiktas currently sit in seventh place, six points off the lead. A loss here could leave them nine points behind whilst a win could cut their deficit to just three so picking up a victory is vitally important to the visitors this weekend. Their recent form has seen them three win of their last five but two losses to Sivasspor and Goztepe have left them chasing the teams above them instead of truly contesting for the title.
The side have scored the least amount of the teams challenging for the title, with 34 goals in 21 games so far whilst they’ve also conceded at least three more than their rivals with their net being breached 27 times. Both of those figures need to improve for them to really emerge as serious title contenders but a victory by any means here would go a long way to allaying the supporters fears.
Tensions are high but who will emerge victorious?
There isn’t a lot to pick from between the two sides but both will be looking to claim all three points this weekend as they try and narrow the gap at the top of the table. This should see a fairly open game between the two with plenty of chances at either end. As a result we’re backing both teams to score on Friday evening in what should be an exciting game.
The scoreline is a little harder to predict with both sides capable of picking up the three points but we think this one ends in a stalemate with neither side being able to find the winning goal. We think a 1-1 scoreline is the most likely in a result that doesn’t really help either side in their title challenge.
