Kilmarnock vs Celtic Betting Tips

      Tip Reasoning

It’s difficult to feel positive about Kilmarnock after a disappointing start to the season and they hardly need a visit from Celtic at this point. A 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Dundee was followed up by a relatively uncompetitive 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aberdeen.

Kilmarnock manager Gary Locke made four changes following the season opening 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Dundee and he’ll probably have to make some further changes after the disappointment of Sunday.

The problems for Locke are not limited to one particular area, especially against the division’s elite club. However, this side definitely needs to do a better job with the ball, that’ll lead to a few more chances. If they are as poor in possession as they were were against Aberdeen, then another big defeat is inevitable.

Celtic eased past Partick Thistle on Sunday and they’ve got another road trip against one of the SPL’s weaker sides. In theory, it shouldn’t be too much of a test for Ronny Deila’s side, who will have one eye on their next Champions League contest and also on the progress of their most likely title rivals Aberdeen and Hearts.

Australian midfielder Rogic has been Celtic’s early revelation providing creativity and balance to a side that is missing captain Scott Brown. He scored the early goal against Thistle and was part of Celtic’s possession and chances dominance throughout the match.

If Deila is likely to criticise his team for anything through the opening couple of SPL games, it is that they haven’t been clinical enough in front of net. They could have beaten Partick Thistle by several goals, but needed a 63rd minute strike from Commons to seal the deal, while their opening day victory over Ross County was more “workmanlike” than anything else.

Celtic has been playing a lot of football when their European ties are factored in. However, Deila won’t be interested in conceding any ground early in the league season, so expect most of the club’s key players to have their fitness tested by another outing on Wednesday.

There’s an obvious temptation to pick Kilmarnock to do something here, especially considering the lack of any sort of odds on a Celtic victory. However, it’s just hard to see anything positive coming from this game for the home side. Instead, our betting tips are reflective of the likelihood that Deila will drill the importance of finishing chances into his side and they’ll come away with a win in a high-scoring game.
