Kilmarnock need to beat Stranraer on Saturday to stand any chance of qualifying for the second round of the Scottish League Cup.

Killie scrambled a two-point win over Morton in midweek after a 90^th minute equaliser took the match to penalties.

They return to Rugby Park to take on Group G leaders Stranraer – for whom a draw could be enough to secure their passage into the knockout phase.

Kilmarnock’s recent results in this competition have been much better away from home (four straight wins) than at their East Ayrshire base, where they have won only one of their last six League Cup contests inside 90 minutes.

Stranraer are lucky to be in pole position going into the final game as they have only won one of their three games on the field of play and have managed just one goal.

The Blues did manage to grab a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes against Championship side Ayr United on their League Cup travels last season.

But the budget and ambition of the Honest Men doesn’t really compare to Kilmarnock – who are bidding to bounce back to the top-flight at the first attempt this term.
