Kortrijk vs Genk Predictions
A first win of the season manifested itself for Kortrijk last time out, though even with that confidence-boosting victory under their belts, the hosts could find it tough to stop a Genk side that has been in rampant mood when the pair lock horns at Guldensporen Stadion on Sunday evening.
On the face of it, Kortrijk have struggled this season, but they’ve not been treated well by the fixture list. Sunday’s hosts have had to face both Club Brugge and Anderlecht during the opening weeks, while they’ve only faced one of the sides that currently sit outside of the top half – a match that they won.
In terms of their performances, they weren’t great against either Anderlecht or Club Brugge, though they did find the net against the former. In fact, Club Brugge is the only opponent that Kortrijk have failed to find the net against. Having scored in both of their two home matches this season, as well as having notched twice in victory last time out, the hosts ought to fancy themselves to make plenty of offensive headway against a Genk side that isn’t overly strong at the back.
As far as scoring goes, Sunday’s hosts have excelled themselves this season, as they’ve notched a very pleasing total of 13 goals in just five league matches. Going forward, Genk have shown themselves to be very strong, both in terms of creativity and end-product. With that in mind, it’s not overly difficult to see the visitors scoring goals in this fixture. After all, both Anderlecht and Club Brugge found goals easy to come by against Sunday’s hosts.
However, while Genk have looked very good going forward, they’ve not exactly thrived at the other end. Their total of four goals conceded in five matches may appear to be a reasonably solid on the surface, though it’s fair to say that Philippe Clement’s men have been anything but secure at the back. In all competitions, the visitors have conceded in each of their last five, shipping at least twice in each of their last three, while they’ve looked shaky even in the games where they’ve not conceded.
Lokeren and Oostende are the two teams who’ve failed to find the net against Genk, though the former were blighted by a red card, while Oostende weren’t without opportunities. Judging by how both Waasland and Charleroi have fared offensively against Genk in recent weeks, not to mention Brondby in the Europa League on Thursday night, there’s plenty of hope for the hosts in a forward sense.
From a betting point of view, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ is hard to get away from. The hosts have offered a threat going forward, even if they are poor at the back, while much of the same can be said for the visitors. What’s more, with the attack-minded visitors likely to maintain their front-foot approach, an open game could easily unfold.
Having failed to score just twice between them in their combined ten league matches, with a combined average of 3.00 goals per game, punters advised to support a high-scoring game, one where both teams profit offensively.
