Leeds vs Manchester United Predictions
- United have scored at least twice in 12 of their last 14 games
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in 10 of United’s last 11 matches
- Leeds have seen over 2.5 goals in six of their last eight
- Rashford has scored in seven of his last eight league appearances
Swift reunion for pair
Manchester United and Leeds meet for the second time in four days, following their 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. The Whites put in a good display just days after manager Jesse Marsch was sacked, but they return to Elland Road still searching for a successor.
The hosts’ are a point above the drop zone following that draw at United, but they could start this clash in the drop zone if results go against them on Saturday. Either way, the threat of relegation isn’t going away anytime soon, so Leeds need to push for a result against a United side who are pushing for a top-four finish.
Red Devils in scoring form
The visitors have been in blistering attacking form since the World Cup, which continued in midweek. The Red Devils dropped points but they dominated in terms of Expected Goals, finishing with an xG of 2 compared to Leeds’ 0.55.
The visitors have scored at least twice in 12 of their 14 fixtures since the World Cup, while they scored six across the two games before that. Erik ten Hag has transformed their attack, with Marcus Rashford leading the way.
The England striker has scored in all but one of his last eight league games, while in all competitions he has scored in 11 of 14 matches since the World Cup. That brilliant run has seen his once great price to score anytime cut, but he’s still the best option as an anytime scorer in this clash.
High-scoring run for Leeds
The hosts have been in fine scoring form too, with six of their last eight games seeing over 2.5 goals land. In fact, five of those have seen at least four goals. The Whites average 1.5 goals per game at home, so they should put up a fight against United.
The visitors have seen over 2.5 goals in 10 of their last 11 matches, which points to more goals to come. Leeds looked much improved without Marsch and they should try to get forward a bit more in front of their home support, so look to over 2.5 goals as the best bet in this clash.
Leeds have won just one of their last eight Premier League home games (D4 L3) and they’ve failed to beat any of the current top eight. Meanwhile, United have won seven of their eight meetings with the bottom eight this season, including four wins from four on the road. Back them for a narrow victory, with a 2-1 win my correct score prediction.
