Leeds vs Manchester United Predictions

  • Both teams to score has landed in six of Leeds’ last nine home games and they have only failed to score in one of those.
  • There have been goals at both ends in five of Manchester United’s last seven overall.
  • The visitors won the reverse fixture 5-1.
  • Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick in that win and was on target against Brighton on Monday.

Manchester United make the trip to Leeds

Manchester United thrashed Leeds 5-1 when these two sides met at Old Trafford in the early stages of the campaign but Sunday’s meeting at Elland Road is likely to be a closer affair.

Leeds are struggling for form with six defeats in their last nine games in all competitions, while the visitors ended a three-game winless run by beating Brighton 2-0 in Manchester on Monday.

Leeds remain without key pair Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford, with up to seven players missing for the hosts on Sunday. Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is out and Edinson Cavani is a doubt with the groin injury that has seen him miss the last two games.

The visitors are the favourites to win and given Leeds’ form they should probably be expected to come away with all three points, but the Yorkshire outfit have been picking up results at home so instead I’m focusing on the goals markets for the main bet.

Back both teams to score at Elland Road

Leeds went down 1-0 to Newcastle in their last home assignment but they were perhaps unlucky not to get anything out of that game, having created 13 chances with four on target.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have generally been fairly solid at home and have just two defeats in their last eight at Elland Road. They had also scored in eight straight home games before drawing a blank against the Magpies, with both teams to score landing in six of those.

There have been goals at both ends in five of Manchester United’s last seven overall and in each of their last four away, so both teams to score looks a solid starting point for the main bet.

Visitors can take advantage of depleted hosts

Leeds are struggling in the absence of some key men and after the Red Devils picked up a win over a solid Brighton outfit on Monday they should be able to back that up with a win at Elland Road.

Ralf Rangnick’s men aren’t prolific scorers and have only scored more than twice in two of their last 14 games – so a 2-1 win for the away side looks a reasonable option for correct score bettors.

Bruno Fernandes did the damage in the reverse fixture with a hat-trick and ended a five-game goal drought with a strike against Brighton. As such, the Portugal international looks a strong contender for an anytime goal on Sunday.

Leeds United predicted lineup: Meslier, Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Hjelde, Forshaw, Klich, Rodrigo, Raphina, Roberts, James
