Lille to return to winning ways at home to struggling Nimes

Lille were knocked out of the Coupe de France in midweek by PSG but remain top of the Ligue 1 table by 3pts. Nimes drew 1-1 at home with Montpellier last weekend and are still in the relegation zone heading into a tough trip to Lille.

The hosts haven’t lost against Nimes since 1999, when both clubs were plying their trade in Ligue 1. When the pair locked horns in January for their reverse league fixture, Lille secured a 1-0 victory.

Lille have kept clean sheets in their last two league games and those two matches were arguably against much tougher opposition, in the form of Monaco and Marseille. However, Nimes haven’t conceded more than two goals in any of their last six outings, so we’re not expecting Lille to run riot this weekend.

We’re predicting a win-to-nil for Lille this Sunday and are confident that the final scoreline will end 2-0. Lille are very economical with their goals this season and don’t often thrash teams, while their guests haven’t been giving goals away cheaply of late even though they are battling against relegation.
