Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Liverpool have lost just one home league game since October 2022
- The Reds have scored at least twice in 16 of their last 20 league matches at Anfield
- Forest have kept five away clean sheets in more than two season since returning to the top flight
Reds have eased back into the groove
Despite Arne Slot’s excellent credentials, there was bound to have been some trepidation about whether the Dutchman would be able to fill Jurgen Klopp’s boots at Liverpool, but the signs have been good and they should strengthen their position by beating Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.
Slot has overseen a perfect start to his Merseyside tenure as the Reds have yet to concede in their opening three league games of the campaign, and while victories over Ipswich and Brentford would have been regarded as routine, a 3-0 success at Manchester United before the international break must have given him a huge amount of pride.
There has been a degree of comfort with little to trouble Slot’s new defence and while Forest won their final three away games of last season, a trip to the red half of Merseyside is a lot different to the wins they have gained at Burnley, Sheffield United and Southampton, so it is difficult to see them threatening to score, let alone claim their first win of the season.
Forest will look to keep things tight
Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo will have been delighted with the fact his team restricted the Saints to just one shot on target in their game at St Mary’s, so that should be the foundation upon which they build their approach for their rip to Anfield.
Getting into attacking areas could be the big issues and while Chris Wood has scored in their draws against Wolves and Bournemouth, the New Zealand forward could be in for a difficult afternoon.
Prepare to see plenty of Forest players behind the ball, just as Brentford did as they aimed to frustrate Slot’s boys in their last home game, but the Reds came through to win 2-0 against the Bees and a similar scoreline on Saturday would not be a surprise..
Salah showing no signs of slowing up
The main man in the Anfield dugout has changed but their main man on the pitch is still the same and Mo Salah will have been delighted to score in each of his opening three league matches.
The Egyptian, who also scored in an international last week, is showing no signs of letting up as he has had ten efforts at goal so far, testing the goalkeeper on six occasions, and there seems little reason to think that his goalscoring run will not continue on Saturday.
