Luton vs Liverpool Predictions
- Nine of Liverpool’s last 11 Premier League games have featured at least three goals
- The Reds have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine league away games
- Luton have lost three of their last four matches
Big occasion for the Hatters
This was just the sort of fixture Luton fans will have been looking forward to after they gained promotion to the Premier League for the first time, so there should be a great atmosphere at Kenilworth Road.
And as Liverpool will not relax as they fell to Nottingham Forest, who had also won the Championship playoffs, last season, so that should add up to a decent Bedfordshire encounter.
Rob Edwards’s Hatters will be disappointed with a return of just a point from their opening four home matches of the season, although they have showed their battling qualities in gaining a 2-1 win at Everton and also fighting theri way back at Forest to grab a point with two late goals after going 2-0 down.
It is almost as if this game is a free hit so we should expect them to have a go at the Reds and it is noticeable that Liverpool have kept just one clean sheer in their last nine away games.
However, it is difficult to see Luton keeping them at bay so with Jurgen Klopp’s side a short price to come away with all three points, it makes sense to back them with both teams scoring.
Free-scoring Reds can take over
Despite the fact leaders Tottenham have already been to Kenilworth Road and won 1-0, Liverpool are probably the biggest box-office team to have visited and the Anfield outfit have been full of goals this term.
Their 2-1 loss at Tottenham is the only defeat they have suffered in the league, when they were denied by a controversial VAR decision and gifted Spurs with their winning goal when Joel Matip put through his own net.
That trip to London and their opening weekend 1-1 draw at Chelsea have been the only occasions when Liverpool have not scored at least two goals and they look like to notch at least that many on Sunday.
So, bearing in mind the both-teams-to-score selection, it may make sense for correct-score bettors to look at a 3-1 away win.
Nunez is finding his mark
It has taken a while for Darwin Nunez to hit full flow in the Reds’ attack but he has come back from the international break in good form, so expect him to continue that on this stage.
Nunez scored in both of Uruguay’s last two games and has netted in his last three appearances for the Reds, so expect him to make his presence up front, with the odds decent enough to support the former Benfica striker in the anytime-goalscorer market.
