Bayern Munich and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both of these sides were humiliated at the weekend but Manchester United’s loss to Bournemouth was more indicative of bigger problems and they should be opposed against Bayern, who have won four of their five Champions League group games this term. That said, they could concede.

Bayern Munich 3-1

Reason for tip

Manchester United have leaked seven goals in their last two games in the Champions League and they could again struggle to keep the door shut against Bayern Munich, who can win this 3-1.

Harry Kane To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

With 18 goals in the league this season, Harry Kane has taken like a duck to water at Bayern Munich and he can get on the scoresheet against Manchester United.

Manchester United vs Bayern Munich Predictions

  • Bayern Munich have won of their five games in this season’s Champions League
  • Manchester United have conceded seven goals in their last two games in the competition
  • Both teams have scored in three of Bayern Munich’s last five matches
  • Harry Kane has struck 18 goals in 13 Bundesliga fixtures this season

Bayern able to bounce back

Both Manchester United and Bayern Munich endured humiliating defeats at the weekend and will be eager to make amends when they clash in the Champions League on Tuesday.

While Manchester United were stunned 3-0 by Bournemouth at Old Trafford, Bayern Munich were dismantled 5-1 by Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park.

Both results raised eyebrows but Bayern’s defeat was arguably more eye-catching as Thomas Tuchel’s men fell 3-0 behind after only 36 minutes.

Joshua Kimmich likely thought he had got his side back on track when he netted before the break but second-half goals from Eric Dina Embimbe and Ansgar Knauff sealed the win for Frankfurt.

It was, however, an anomalous result in what has otherwise been a near-perfect season for Bayern, who have won ten of their 13 games in the Bundesliga and four of their five matches in the Champions League.

They are already guaranteed a spot in the Champions League knockout stage as Group A winners and do not need anything for this week’s visit to Old Trafford, although Tuchel will demand a response from his players.

Work to be done for Manchester United

But while the defeat to Frankfurt was likely just one of those freak results for Bayern Munich, the Bournemouth loss was indicative of deeper problems for Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag won the Manager of the Month award in the Premier League for November but his side’s three wins were only against Fulham, Luton and Everton.

And since that Everton win, they have drawn with Galatasaray, lost to Newcastle, edged Chelsea 2-1 and then lost to Bournemouth.

The Cherries defeat was the club’s seventh league loss of the season and there are still plenty of problems to which they must attend.

Kane can help Bayern over the line at Old Trafford

Goals have been a problem this season with just 18 scored in 16 league fixtures but United have to throw everything at this game as only a win will keep alive their hopes of making the Champions League knockout phase.

They will also be reliant on results elsewhere but can be expected to play on the front foot, so that points to a high-scoring game.

Both teams to score is a worthwhile selection but Bayern will likely just be too strong and can record a morale-boosting win in Manchester.

A 3-1 win looks the way to go in the correct score market while Harry Kane, who has scored four times in this season’s Champions League, is a decent anytime goalscorer pick.
