Middlesbrough vs Derby Predictions
- Derby have claimed just two points from their last 11 Championship matches
- Four of the Rams’ last six away league games have featured at least three goals
- Both teams have scored in seven of Middlesbrough’s nine most recent second-tier encounters
Difficult to have lots of faith in either outfit
Derby have made a managerial change after bringing in John Eustace to replace Paul Warne, but the former Blackburn boss has a huge task to keep the Rams in the second tier and their quest may not be helped when they head to Middlesbrough on Saturday.
It is difficult to get behind the strugglers in the markets when they have claimed just eight points on the road this season, especially when they have found the net just twice in their last nine outings, but this may not be a time to place great faith in Boro either.
Michael Carrick’s side have been on a miserable run themselves which has left them with plenty of ground to make up in the race for a playoff place, although they did shake a monkey off their back by ending a five-match losing run with a 3-1 win at Stoke in midweek.
Goals look likely at the Riverside
It is not tempting to put huge faith in the home side despite the poor form that the Rams are taking to Teesside, and a more sensible betting approach looks to go with there to be more than two goals at the Riverside.
Even with Derby’s poor recent scoring record, four of their last six away games have featured at least three goals and the same can be said of six of Boro’s last eight.
Correct-score punters should expect the home side to come out on top and a 3-1 home win, like the one they secured in the Potteries, could be the best way to go.
