Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Midtjylland were held to a 3-3 draw against promoted Odense at home in their season opener in Denmark over the weekend. This is Hibs’ first game of the new campaign but goals at both ends was a regular feature in their fixtures towards the end of the previous campaign, landing in each of their final four fixtures. Midtjylland have just one clean sheet in their last eight home games and they’ve only failed to score themselves in one of those games so both of these teams should be able to get on the scoresheet.

Midtjylland 2-1

Reason for tip

Goals at both ends looks likely and Mitjylland can make the most of home advantage. Hibs were fairly strong travellers last season – they picked up a win at Rangers towards the end of last term – and they can keep this game tight ahead of the second leg at Easter Road. Take a chance on a 2-1 home win.

Midtjylland vs Hibernian Predictions

  • BTTS was a winning bet in Hibs’ final four games last season.
  • Midtjylland are unbeaten in five at home (W4, D1).

Hibs’ Euro adventure begins in Denmark

Hibernian’s quest to reach the Europa League starts with a tough trip to Denmark on Thursday as they face Midtjylland at MCH Arena.

The Edinburgh outfit are big underdogs on the night and to qualify, but this tie may be more competitive than the odds suggest.

Midtjylland should be able to win the home leg but the better angle for this game could be backing both teams to score.

Midtjylland were held to a 3-3 draw against promoted Odense at home in their season opener on Sunday, fighting back from 0-2 and 2-3 to claim a point.

This is Hibs’ first game of the new campaign but goals at both ends was a regular feature in their fixtures towards the end of the previous campaign. Both teams scored in each of their final four fixtures and that pattern has continued a little through pre-season with both teams scoring in three of their last four friendlies.

Hibs picked up a few decent results on the road last season as they won at Rangers in April and picked up victories at Aberdeen, Hearts and Dundee United over the course of the campaign. They also scored in defeat at Celtic Park, and those results suggest they can at least get on the scoresheet in Herning.

A Hibs goal is expected but Mitjylland can make the most of home advantage and grind out a 2-1 win. Since the end of November, only Celtic have managed to beat Hibs by more than one goal and they can keep this tie alive by avoiding a heavy away loss before these teams reconvene at Easter Road for the second leg.
