Tip Reasoning

  • Both teams have scored in four of the last five Leicester City games.
  • Both teams have scored in nine of Millwall’s ten games in all competitions this season.
  • Leicester City have lost only one of their last six away League Cup ties (Won two, Drawn three).

Foxes must tighten up at the back to extend cup runs

Leicester City have enjoyed long and successful cup runs in both of Brendan Rodgers’ full seasons in charge.

The Northern Irishman’s record in these competitions at Celtic suggests he won’t take the Carabao Cup lightly this year, despite the higher priorities of cracking the top four and extending the Foxes’ Europa League campaign.

So we would expect him to pick a team that possessed enough quality to get past a Millwall side that lies in the bottom half of the Championship.

The Lions are unbeaten in five after losing their opening two league games and earned a creditable 1-1 draw at promotion favourites West Brom a couple of weeks ago.

Gary Rowett’s side are a strong unit with some good players, but don’t seem to have a reliable marksman that can make a difference in tight games – hence they have drawn the last three.

They have, however, scored in all but one of their ten games this season – as have their opponents – and we feel they can register against a Foxes team beset by defensive issues of late.

Rodgers’ rearguard has conceded ten goals in their last five games, so we are backing both teams to score on Wednesday, albeit in a 2-1 away win for the Premier League club.
