Minnesota United vs Orlando City Predictions
Minnesota United claimed all three points from their midweek home game against Colorado Rapids and kept a clean sheet in the process, while Orlando City also won at home 1-0 against Sporting KC.
All of the stats suggest we will be in for a tight and tense ninety minutes between these two sides on Sunday and that the game is highly unlikely to produce goals at both ends of the pitch. Minnesota United have kept three clean sheets in their last five matches and their guests have only conceded three goals in their last four league and cup games, so we believe one goal will be enough to claim all three points on Sunday.
Just one of the last three meetings between these two clubs have seen both teams score and it’s Minnesota United that have won the last two encounters between the pair, with just one goal separating the pair on each occasion. Orlando City’s last points against Minnesota United arrived back in 2010 when the pair were plying their trade in the USSF Division 2.
The form for both clubs suggests that a home win is on the cards this weekend as Minnesota United have won three of their last four matches and Orlando City have lost three of their last six in all competitions. Each of those Minnesota victories arrived at home against Colorado Rapids, and twice against Portland Timbers in league and cup, and on two occasions the hosts also kept a clean sheet.
The performances of both teams over the last month point towards just one team scoring on Sunday, as only two of Minnesota United’s last five and two of Orlando City’s last six matches ended with both teams scoring. Orlando City failed to score in two of their last six matches and both of those games ended in defeat, 2-0 against Atlanta United and 1-0 against New York RB, while Minnesota United only failed to score in one of their last six matches and that game against Vancouver Whitecaps ended in a goalless draw.
We’re confident that we won’t see both teams score on Sunday and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0 to Minnesota United. The hosts are the form favourites and have won their last two games against Orlando City, though on both occasions the difference between the clubs was just a single goal.
