MK Dons vs Birmingham Betting Tips

The newboys got their season up and running in stunning fashion on the opening day, winning 4-1 at Rotherham to top the table. However it has been a mixed story since then and it could well be that sort of season for Karl Robinson and his side as they try to adapt to the increase in quality that you get at this level.

A 1-0 defeat at home to Preston and an unconvincing 1-0 win at home to Bolton have been their results at Stadium mk in the league so far and perhaps there has been a slightly more cautious approach to games this season compared to last year when Milton Keynes racked up a century of goals in League One.

The extremely talented Dele Alli is also no longer at the club and his absence is another reason why they haven’t looked quite as sharp going forward. This will be another tough game against a Birmingham side that could just be the surprise package in the Championship this season. Gary Rowett certainly seems to think so and his side have made an unbeaten start in league and cup and have so far managed to hold on to their prized assets which include highly rated youngster Demarai Gray.

The Blues have only lost 3 of their last 16 Championship games and have won four of the last six. Two of those defeats came away to Bournemouth and Watford, who both secured automatic promotion last season and MK Dons are certainly not in that class yet so you have to fancy them to at least get a result here.

They aren’t the sort of side to win big and all of their last eight Championship wins have been by a single goal so there is a lot of value in backing Birmingham to win 2-1 at 11/1 here.

However there is some security in backing them to win in the ‘draw no bet’ market at 11/8 as this is likely to be a close game and MK Dons are still something of an unknown quantity at this level so it’s reassuring to know that you’ll get your money back if the game ends level.
