MK Dons

      Tip Reasoning

It’s still a little difficult to work out how successful MK Dons are going to be in their first season in the Championship. They picked up a convincing 4-1 victory over Rotherham on opening day, before losing to fellow division newcomers Preston North End 1-0. Manager Karl Robinson could be without the services of forward Rob Hall and midfielder Mark Randall.

MK Dons’ defeat to Preston came as something of a surprise, it was their first negative result at home in six contests. This is a team with some high-quality and fast-paced attacking players, they are in a league that rewards that type of play and they’ve beefed up their squad ahead of this campaign.

Bolton has the slightly undistinguished record of being the only club in the Championship that hasn’t scored in their opening two games. They’ve not exactly got a great record going away from home at the moment having won just one of their last 12 road games.

Neil Lennon isn’t a manager who will tolerate mediocrity for long, that’s the only word that could have been used to describe Bolton last season and it hasn’t been much better so far this season. They appeared overwhelmed for the most part against Middlesbrough in their 3-0 defeat at the weekend and they’ll have to improve defensively if they’re going to resist MK Dons on Tuesday.

Lennon is expected to be without Derik Osede, David Wheater, Darren Pratley and Max Clayton for this game. Zach Clough could make the start up front as Lennon aims to freshen up his front line.

This is the first ever contest between MK Dons and Bolton, so there isn’t much history to compare against in this case. On the one hand, we do think that Bolton will improve, but on the other, MK Dons have looked like a hungry and dangerous side in their opening couple of games and Wanderers’ appalling away form just makes it impossible to tip them in this contest.

We’ll give Bolton a good chance to get on the scoresheet, but MK Dons will secure a second win in three in the early league exchanges.
