Morecambe vs Crewe predictions for Saturday’s League Two fixture at the Globe Arena. Will Crewe pile more misery on lowly Morecambe? Read on for our free League Two predictions and betting tips.

We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Crewe 2-0 @ 17/2

Reason For Morecambe vs Crewe Predictions

  • Morecambe have won just once in their last five games, picking up seven points from a possible 15.
  • Crewe have won four of their last five and sit two points behind the league leaders, Swindon.
  • Morecambe have averaged less than a goal a game this season but have conceded 58 times.
  • Crewe have scored 62 goals this season, an average of 1.82 goals per game and have won 19 times this season.

Relegation continues to threaten Morecambe

Morecambe have been flirting with relegation from League Two for the past few season but have always done just about enough to avoid the drop. That looks as though it could be the case once again with the side currently sitting nine points clear of Stevenage, who occupy the sole relegation spot this season. Morecambe have won just seven times this season, losing 18 as they battle it out at the foot of the table.

In recent weeks Morecambe have picked up some vital points from draws with Carlisle and Mansfield and a win over fellow strugglers Macclesfield, results that could make all the difference in 11 games time at the end of the season. Another win here would likely provide them with an even bigger cushion over the sides above them.

Morecambe have scored just 32 goals in 35 games this season, less than a goal a game and their attacking woes haven’t been allayed by their defensive performances. They’ve conceded more than any side in the division, conceding 58 goals all season at a rate of 1.65 goals per game and the side can count themselves a little lucky that Stevenage have struggled so much this season.

Crewe look set for League One

Crewe have been there or thereabouts all season, defying their critics wrong to move into second place and push Swindon all the way this season. They are currently two points behind the Wiltshire side and things are getting increasingly tight at the top of League Two with the top five all separated by just six points.

Crewe have been in very good form in recent weeks, winning four of their last five matches with a solitary loss to Plymouth keeping them from being top of the league. Their wins have all come at a good time though, keeping the side in touch with Swindon and leading the chasing pack but with 12 games still to play this season the team need to keep momentum going.

Crewe are the highest scorers in the league this season, netting 62 times at a rate of just under 2 goals a game and their goals have come from across their squad with three players having scored seven or more this year. This should help the squad in the busy run in period as injuries begin to take their toll.

Points are needed by both sides in this crucial match

Whether it’s promotion or relegation, things are really beginning to hot up in League Two with the tail end of the season now in sight. Morecambe will be desperate for points but seem to lack the quality to really trouble Crewe this weekend and with the odds on Crewe taking the win this weekend sitting at around evens there seems to be plenty of value in our selection to back the visitors to take all three points.

Crewe are in the better form, have players full of confidence and come up against a side with the complete opposite of that in Morecambe. The value selection is definitely found in backing Crewe and we’re predicting they return home with another important win.

Morecambe have really been struggling this season, and we can’t see them having much of an impact against a Crewe side that have conceded just over a goal a game on average this season. We’re backing Crewe to win this game fairly easily and are predicting a 2-0 scoreline in the favour of the away team.
