Expect goals when Impact meet Nashville in MLS

Montreal Impact topped the Eastern Conference after the opening weekend of MLS, having hammered Toronto 4-2, and this week’s away clash in Nashville could be another high-scoring encounter.

Each of Impact’s front three – Mason Toye, Romell Quioto and Dorde Mihailovic – got on the scoresheet and continued a trend of pulsating encounters for the Canadian outfit.

In 2020, Montreal’s 23 Eastern Conference fixtures saw a total 76 goals and although they were sharp in the attacking third, their defence shipped 43 times, giving them the highest goals conceded tally in the division.

As for Nashville, we also saw the good and bad from the 2020 expansion side at the weekend against Cincinnati.

They found themselves 2-0 down after only 12 minutes courtesy of sloppy defending and poor goalkeeping from Joe Willis to give away a penalty but netted two decent goals to salvage a point.

They also had an eye-watering 31 shots, 13 of which were on target, and over 3.5 goals looks a decent bet when they take on Montreal while we predict a repeat of their 2-2 scoreline during the opening weekend.
