Hosts struggling for wins

New York City have proven difficult to beat of late but their lack of winning mentality is becoming a serious problem and the Eastern Conference’s 10th-placed side could find it difficult to win on Wednesday night, too.

The hosts did beat Montreal last time out, but prior to that they were without a victory in 11 MLS matches and they haven’t taken maximum points at Citi Field since April, losing twice and drawing twice since then.

Thriller predicted at Citi Field

Charlotte are also struggling for wins but, like their opponents, they are also a tough side to beat. They have drawn their last three games, including a 3-3 thriller against Western Conference third-placed outfit Seattle Sounders.

They have lost just three of their last ten MLS games and have won all three previous meetings with New York City, so they look good value in the double chance market.

A high-scoring 2-2 draw also looks promising in the correct score department. New York City have conceded seven goals across their last four at home and Charlotte have seen ten goals across their last three games, all of which have been draws. Their last away game was a trip to City’s Big Apple rivals New York Red Bulls and ended 2-2. I predict a similar outcome this week.
