Southampton face tough tie

Southampton put in a good showing in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United but I’m backing them to struggle against cup specialists Newport.

The Welsh side are unbeaten in their last five games in this competition, winning Ipswich in the last round. Last term they saw off Swansea, Cambridge and Watford at home before holding Newcastle to a 1-1 draw.

Newport also drew 1-1 with Brighton in the Third Round of the FA Cup earlier this year. That built on their recent reputation as a side to fear in the cups, something which ought to worry the Saints.

Southampton are likely to make changes and their second string could face a tough night in Wales. The hosts are good value double chance given their recent record, while another 1-1 draw could be on the cards.
