Out-of-form sides fail to gain vital points

Two sides in desperate need of three points for polarising reasons come face-to-face in Ligue 1 on Friday night as European hopefuls Nice host a Lorient side occupying the relegation play-off position on goal difference.

The Eaglets have had a torrid time of things as of late with just one win in nine across all competitions, while their form at the Allianz Riviera does not make for better viewing with their last four seeing three defeats and a goalless draw with the division’s bottom side Clermont.

Les Merlus have also struggled as of late in what has been a trying season for Regis Le Bris’s men, with just one win across their last six – losing four to nil – but their could be some hope in the form of their recent away record, with Lorient falling to defeat in just one of their last five on the road.

Despite their improving away form, Lorient should still struggle to claim victory against a side sitting fifth in the Ligue 1 table. However, with Nice stumbling through the end of the campaign, they should be able to avoid defeat. Each of the last two meetings between these two sides ended 1-1 and a repeat result looks a decent bet.
