Norwich Under 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Norwich have scored fewer than 1.5 goals in eight of their last 10 Championship games, including three of their last four at home while Blackburn conceded fewer than 1.5 goals in six of their nine away league games after John Eustace’s appointment in February. The Canaries have failed to score more than once in five of their last six clashes with Blackburn, including both of last season’s meetings.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Blackburn may be without Sammie Szmodics if his long-anticipated transfer finally happens, so this could be a game to batten down the hatches for Rovers. They prevented promotion-chasing Leeds from scoring at Elland Road late last season and beat champions Leicester with a clean sheet on the road too, so they can clearly prevent the better sides from scoring. However, Norwich only failed to score in one of their last 14 home games of last term so a 1-1 draw is preferred.

Canaries look short up front

Norwich’s tumultuous summer transfer activity appears to have left them a bit short up front with injuries to key attackers likely to limit their potency against in-form Blackburn on Saturday.

The Canaries sold Gabriel Sara (21 goals and 17 assists in 96 games) and Adam Idah for big fees while Jonathan Rowe, their breakthrough star of last season, looks set to follow in the next few days.

Rowe told coach Johannes Hoff Thorup he was not in the right frame of mind to face Oxford last weekend and Norwich, who lost striker Christian Fassnacht and midfielder Jacob Sorensen to injury, created very little in a 2-0 defeat to the promoted U’s.

Eustace has shored up Rovers’ rearguard

A depleted City side could struggle to cause Rovers many problems this weekend too, despite apparently recovering their attacking mojo in a 4-3 Carabao Cup win over League One Stevenage in midweek.

John Eustace shored up Blackburn’s defence after taking over from Jon Dahl Tomasson in February with his Rovers side conceding fewer than two goals on the road in six of their nine away assignments.

Blackburn beat Derby 4-2 in their season opener and thrashed Stockport 6-1 on Tuesday, so will not lack confidence for this trip to Norfolk. A low-scoring draw could be on the cards with a 1-1 appearing to be the likeliest outcome given Norwich struggled for home goals late last term and in pre-season while Blackburn may lose last season’s Championship hot shot Sammie Szmodics this week.
