Tip Reasoning

Having looked hopelessly out of things not that long ago, Oldham are doing their best to turn things around and, in fairness, they’ve been enjoying some success in that department. With three wins and a draw in their last five matches, John Sheridan’s team have managed to climb out of the relegation-zone – something that seemed highly unlikely around a month ago.

Unfortunately for Oldham, they face a Millwall side who’re in excellent form. However, despite looking in really good shape right now, backing the visitors to come out on top isn’t the best bet here. Instead, ‘Under 0.5 First Half Goals’ is the selection that catches the eye.

Despite occupying one of the league’s lowest positions for most of the season, Oldham have been one of the better defensive teams at home this season and, considering they face a strong Millwall team, will surely be looking to keep things tight here, especially early on. On top of this, there’s been no goal scored before half-time in six of Oldham’s home matches this season.

Additionally, two of the last three Millwall away matches have seen no goals hit the net during the first half. We’re talking about two teams who’ve been defending well, therefore, it would be no surprise if very little is given away cheaply in the early parts of this match. As touched on above, if the hosts do look to focus on defending from the off – a tactic they’ve often employed at home – then Millwall could easily struggle to find a way through.

Of the two sides, Millwall are undoubtedly the stronger, but Oldham are no mugs at home, especially from a defensive point of view and they could very easily hold out for some time in this one.

Neither team makes enough appeal to support in the betting, but a low-scoring first half certainly doesn’t seem unlikely and is well worth getting behind here.
